Since I am no longer belong to a Consulting company, my professionalism has taken turn for the worse. I rock up to work in jeans 4 days a week…with sneakers. I no longer know where my work shirts, skirts, pants, etc are. My wardrobe are much more colourful (no more boring black or gray or white outfits). My laptop wallpaper is cute. My desktop wallpaper is cute. I hang fluffy keychains on my handbags, Oh, check out my latest iPhone cover.. It’s a PINK BUNNY!! It looks like a toy, no? It looks so cute sitting on my iPhone charging deck. (Sorry about the qualities of the photos, I used my old 2mp camera phone from my old sony Ericsson K660i) It has FLUFFY tails!!! XD XD XD From the front… The ears stick out from between my hair when I am talking on the phone. The tail can be used a stand, LOL… so I can stare at it’s cuteness. There’s no way in hell the office manager (and line manager, client relation manager, practice manager, etc) would let me get away with it. My branch manager might… but he has a pretty laid back attitude towards anything. My co-consultant would probably be too embarrassed to be associated with me. I am liking this back-office-I-am-a-programmer-I-rule-the-world kinda role. I missed the travel perks, though. (Recruiters, current and prospective employers, please pay attention)!! In my previous consulting company, it was heaven travelling at the Company’s expense I am pretty stingy when travelling with my own out–of-pockets expense. Not long ago, I had a last minute travel to book, and all cheap-ish tickets from Qantas or Virgin Blue were sold out. So I traveled on Tiger Airways domestic from Canberra-Melbourne for the first time. The boarding process in Canberra was like getting on a bus. Well.. I guess, you get what you paid for. I was at the front entrance (top of the stairs).. here’s the view of the rear entrance. There were also a lot of people queuing behind me so, the front entrance did not fare any better. *Excuse my big-as finger here*. More view for the rear entrance queue. There’s something decidedly wrong when you have to queue on the tarmack all the way from the terminal gate to the plane door. NEVER AGAIN!!! Don’t get me started on Tiger Terminal in Melbourne!!! P.S. In terms of comfort, seats allocation, on-board service, etc… it’s not that much different than Qantas or Virgin. It’s just the ground-service that annoyed me. P.P.S. In terms of safety, I know Tiger Airways is grounded in Australia. Honestly, I wouldn’t have a clue… I arrived in both destinations safely without any drama… didn’t notice the plane skidding or anything.

So, I’ve been working from home today. I’ve got a couple of tradies coming to fix or install a few stuff around the house. They can’t give me fixed time of when they can come in and how long it would take them to do it. At least we’ve done most of the unpacking so I have all my computer gears, books, files and paperworks out. Though, now my study is starting to look very girlie or somewhat nursery looking. One side of the room: (This photo is taken early this morning – I actually had to work on the big computer, not on the netbook.) LOOK! I CAN HAZ Cactus. I finally have cactus. I’ve been wanting to have cactus for a while but my bunny always says no. Piglet: I want cactus. Bunny: No. Piglet: I want cactus. Bunny: Where are you gonna put it? Piglet: In the bathroom. Bunny: What? Why do you want cactus in the bathroom. Piglet: Because I want plants in the bathroom. But if it’s any other plant, it would just die. I am not good with plants. Bunny: Cactus can die too if you don’t take care of it. Piglet: At least they don’t die easily. Bunny: No. We’ll get plastic plant instead. Piglet: T_T A few days after that conversation. I came home and there is cactus plants in the pot waiting for me on the kitchen bench. My bunny said he bought it because the colour of the pot matches our paint colour. I think he just loves me very much and like to spoil me (which I ofcourse, encourage on daily basis). The cactus won’t be in the bathroom. It is now sitting on the lower shelf above my desk surrounded by my little stuffed animals. The other side of the room: My bigger stuffed animals are my reading friends. They live in my study and occupy half of my reading couch/sofa-bed for when we have guests. (Jay, you can now have sleeping friends when you stay over ) Anyway, I can’t be bothered turning on the heater because it’s quite sunny outside and I prefer to have the blinds open. I can actually see an elephant (our plant stand) bum from my study. Very inspirational.. or what? So, my hand has been cold while doing computer work and I finally have the chance to wear THIS: USB HAND WARMER!! I got it from Akihabara, Tokyo, Japan – though you can also get it from ebay if you want one. I can’t use my thumb though. I probably have to cut a hole for my thumb later. Though, I am scared I might cut a cable/wire or something in process. I should have bought this instead: But I couldn’t find them in Akihabara. I might ebay them later. I’ll buy a bunny one for my bunny and a pig one for myself. Though, more than likely, they’re both will be mine, I don’t think my bunny will wear them. These things actually come in a set. In Akihabara, I saw...

I am on holiday and I wasn’t planning on blogging. I don’t think I will have time for it because I just want to relax and spend time doing tourist stuff. The old Jakarta Even if I blog, I did not expect to blog about Jakarta. I am not particularly fond of this capital city of Indonesia. Even though I am from Indonesia, I did not have very good impression of the city. From my previous trips, I only remembered the weather (very hot), the crowds (too many of them), the rubbish (it’s very dirty), the traffic (you could spend 2 hours on 1 km car trip) and that I never had a good time there. My mum always told me that the city is dangerous and I wasn’t allowed to go anywhere without my family. I also used to found that people on the street are also not very friendly. The unplanned trip I thought I would be blogging about the other legs of my trip, either Singapore or Thailand, or both. However, this time, I found myself strangely drawn to the Jakarta part of the trip. The Jakarta trip was also unplanned. Originally, I thought I have to spend 6 days 5 nights in Singapore. The Great Singapore Sale is on, and I might just go shopping, shopping and shopping. However, Singapore is a very small city and I found the shopping is not as cheap or as good as it used to be. I don’t feel like shopping there is a bargain anymore. So I decided to just spend a day in Singapore and go to Jakarta to see some old friends from Perth who now lives in Jakarta. The New Jakarta Well, it’s not exactly the new Jakarta. Yes, it has evolved. There are more malls, more shops, more things to do, more restaurants, etc that what it used to be. But Jakarta is always very cosmopolitan, fast-paced and growing rapidly even after the city’s bad moment (Indonesian Revolution 1998). The city is still dirty, traffic is still really bad and the crowds are everywhere. HOWEVER, I found that the city is not as dangerous as it used to be. The facilities have also vastly improved and modernised. There are more and more educated and smart people in Indonesia who noticed the bad things and make it their business to fix it. For example, I used to be really scared travelling alone in Jakarta (I still am ) but I notice there are more facilities that will make me feel safer to travel solo in Jakarta. Taxi used to be really dangerous and the drivers would try to rip you off. I belive that is still the case in some. However, The Blue Bird Taxi (.. group) builds up their reputation to be the safest taxi in Jakarta. When other taxi companies realise that they are losing customers, they fix themselves. You can now order official airport taxi from Sukarno-Hatta Airport rather than queing, pick your...
