I am encouraging you all to watch Star Trek XI. I am not a big Star Trek fan and I know nothing about the TV series and the movies. My knowledge of Star Trek prior to watching the movie last night is limited to a bunch of geeks (and green aliens) with tight-fitting red costume flying a big dish. I know nothing about Vulcan, USS Enterprise, Captain Kirk, etc. However, I found the movie really good and funny despite having no background about it. It has great storyline (not so predictable) and interesting lines that keep me laughing for half of the movie. Memorable scenes (for me): USS Enterprise crews’ face when Chekov’s password is denied by the voice recognition system, followed by his 2 mins monologue when he announced the status of the ship to the crew in broken heavily accented english. When when Sulu said that he is trained in ***** for hand combat. I love Kirk’s face in that scene. I couldn’t stop giggling (can’t make loud noise, I was in the cinema) for the next few minutes. Sulu’s combat skill is awesome though. The scene when Dr McCoy ‘smuggled’ Kirk into the ISS Entreprise (and Kirk’s ballooning hands) Scotty and the water pipe, and his ‘luck’ in general My favourite cast in the movie would be Chekov because he accidentally is so awesomely funny, followed by Scotty and McCoy (it also helps that Karl Urban (Eomer) played McCoy). However, I think Kirk, Chekov, Scotty, McCoy, Spock, Sulu, Pike and Nero deliver amazing performance. I might get bashed by some readers now… but I think in the X-Men Origin – Wolverine v.s. Star Trek movies (which one is better), Star Trek easily won. I am kinda disappointed with Wolverine despite being a Hugh Jackman’s and X-Men fan. Wolverine is a bit too predictable for my liking.
