My first thought is “go to another disneyland.” Then I found this comment from one of the reader:

is anyone else confused about the “to make up for the family’s Thai nightmare” and the article then says they were originally to fly to the US in May when she was trapped in Thailand. Sounds like they already planned on going there (why didn’t she have a US visa before Thailand then?) and has now run to the media with a bit of a sob story that no one is caring about because she’s probably done her money on the flights.
He made a really good point. Looks like this is another case of celebrity wannabe. What do you think?
Frankly I found this story a bit annoying.. not that I care much to begin with.
I am a firm believer, if you can not abide by the law and customs of the country you are visiting, just don’t go. Don’t go looking for trouble by breaking foreign’s law then cry to the media asking for pity or beg the government to spend our tax money to save you from facing the result of your own stupidity.
Smart people will notice that the offender is just a loser but there will be some ignorants who will just support him/her in ruining the tourism industry of that country. Did they not realise that they are ruining other people’s lives, especially if these people’s income are dependant on tourism industry (like most people in Phuket or Bali).
Oh well.. at least they provide some entertainment.. making people laugh at them, their behaviour and stupidity.
Last month Alexander Downer wrote this piece of article about ‘Looking after yourself overseas.’ I wholeheartedly agree with him on this.
